"Three things that bothered Liz - talking, socializing, and misogyny. She had gone through even greater challenges than anyone could have imagined in their wildest dreams.
Liz was quiet that night - not unusual, but different in some way that appeared. The neighbors had gone out of town for a month now, and Liz couldn't wait for them to return. Their son, Ilan, was Liz's only close friend - he supported her in her feminist drives, her fights with her family, and most importantly, from her inner demons; may be because he was also in love with her. Liz, though often looked amiable to the world, was tied with her insecurities, but never let it affect her confidence and dreams.
This particular night, dinner was served, everyone was ready, and there was Liz in a no-nonsense mood. Her father, Neal, bit of a sexist, believed in male dominance and that females were bound to do certain things for their families and men. He knew well that this attitude would not be accepted in modern times, therefore, donned superficial feminism out and about.
"What a fantastic movie!" he said, glaring at the television, and then to his wife, "The actress is so pretty, dressed so well to welcome her husband," he continued, looking at Liz with a bit of disgust.
"It's disgusting that you think women should sit all dressed up to welcome their husbands. Disgusting." Liz responded with intense anger. Her father's voice got progressively aggressive.
"What the hell do you want here?"
"I want you to stop talking about this fucking nonsense. You're always talking about this and it hurts!" Liz replied to Neal, never condoning this kind of behavior.
"Stop it with your feminism. Every time it's something to do with me!" her father continued to vindicate himself. Tired of his yelling, Liz got up and went out of the house.
The next day, Iggy, their family friend who had an affair with Neal for the longest time while they were both married to different people, showed up at their house.
"I was extremely frustrated by all the bantering and fights, so I thought I'd come here for a while," Iggy explained while looking at Liz lecherously.
"Glad you came, boy, this is your home too," Neal comforted her with a wide smile.
"I look miserable," Iggy started sobbing.
"Patrick always wants me to look glamorous and stay home with the kids. I just can't do that! The kids completely drain me out. How can I possibly manage raising two kids and dressing up for him simultaneously?"
"Patrick's an idiot. It's downright disgusting to treat your wife this way. Fucking idiot. He doesn't realize who he's hurting... his bloody wife," her father consoled her.
"Give me a break! You're all the same. Hypocrites," Liz yelled at her father in front of his mistress and ran outside to the porch.
